While you do get a bunch of cool features, this is better suited for starters or individuals who manage only 3 companies at most.

This is more so for personal use or perhaps sharing it with your buddies or friends who also do business. $97/month divided between two of your other friends or business partners will be no more than $30 a month.

Generally, what people love the most about GoHighLevel is the jam-packed value for such an affordable price. However, most importantly, people love the support and quality of service that the HighLevel team provides. If you scroll through the Google comments, one way or another people praise the willingness the team is to help.

Negative comments however mention a bit of slow response times unless you are on the priority support $300/monthly subscription and the fact that you can’t simply cancel the trial by yourself. You have to reach out to them via email and go through a little bit of an annoying process to cancel the free trial.

And I do agree that as a first-hand user, some people who just want to try out the software will find it time-consuming going through that process.

Reviews on 3rd Party Review Websites

3rd party websites have stellar reviews about the company as well.

GHL is doing something right when it comes to not only getting people to write reviews but also providing a great service to their customers and clients.

The only bad reviews are in regard to GHL’s persistent marketing and sales strategy. As a former trial user, yes, HighLevel’s representatives are pretty persistent with their emails and always follow up with you if you didn’t decide to buy.

Whether you think it’s good or bad, as a marketer myself, they practice what they preach and have a good sales funnel and they do practice what they preach…

Some other bad comments mention it being a pyramid scheme or being charged after their trial period ended. Of course, there will always be people who forget to cancel their subscription, so it’s not necessarily Go High Level’s fault because you do agree to their terms of service that after the 30-day trial, you will be charged the monthly subscription fee.

And no, it’s not a pyramid scheme because there is actually a product that users can buy, so their business model is not based on earning money from their affiliates, but after in-depth searching, it’s really in fact emails, SMS, and calling credit.

Personal Review

Reading and stating other people’s reviews is one thing, but here is my personal first-hand experience using this product and my comments about all the features based on my decade years experience working in the digital marketing niche.

First Impressions:

The dashboard is quite simple and nothing fancy. It almost looks like a WordPress dashboard with all the tools and features on the side.

If you are on the Unlimited or Pro Plan, you will be able to onboard any additional clients and manage them from one dashboard through your master account, so it’s very easy to stay organized and in the loop with how work is going.

The reporting and analytics look like powerpoint presentations with very rudimentary design, but I can see past most of the small things that don’t necessarily affect the functionality of the app, because HighLevel is a powerhouse of so many automation tools.

Workflow Builder:

I personally think the Workflow Builder is the main reason why you need to get GoHighLevel.

It can pretty much do anything you want it to.

I’ve used CRMs and tools that were more limited than this despite costing significantly more.

You can choose from basic templates that already exist or create your advanced workflow schedule from scratch. Whether you want to connect it to your social media accounts, website, email, etc, it’s up to you. You can make automation that will save you a bunch of hours of manual work.

If you wish, you can even hook up an AI auto-responder or customer support bot that reads and functions like a human.

However, for complex tasks and automation, it would be disingenuous to say that everyone can do it. Some webhooks and integrations with certain apps or tools can be confusing for beginners, but I am more than happy with the workflow builder.

Website Builder:

Maybe it’s because I am used to the freedom and the simplicity of WordPress, but HighLevel’s website builder verdict/rating is just north of acceptable I would say.

You can import designs from their database and library, but they don’t look spectacular, but it would be wrong to judge everything based on their templates because if you need to make a website quickly and if it doesn’t have to be fancy, the builder is capable enough to make an okay looking website with AB split testing and automated funnel.

The user experience is a little wonky and requires getting used to. It’s a little like Wix and website builders that are from the 2010s. The modules and functions are quite limited, so if you are an intermediate to advanced developer, you might find them very basic.

I also had trouble knowing what the actual link for the web pages are and sharing it with teammates.

I personally won’t be using their website builder because you can host your websites cheaper than HighLevel’s $10/month hosting package. I recommend something like DigitalOcean, Vultr, or something similar if you plan to build websites for clients.

You can always integrate those websites with your HighLevel CRM, so it’s not a big issue, but if you work with local businesses such as dry cleaning, dentists, or whatnot, then nothing wrong with using HighLevel’s built in website builder and manage your website from a single platform if you prefer convenience and organization.

For more dynamic websites that require attention to detail and design, then it’s better to build on your own separate platform that you are proficient in.

AI Tools:

AI tools and integrations have been the rage since 2023 and the AI functions in HighLevel are a must if you wish to set yourself apart from other digital marketing agencies.

The AI auto responders to messages, chats, and comments, especially are tools that are a lifesaver for me. The market I work in has millions of Facebook users and the AI integration with Facebook is a nifty tool to have because you can save hours and hours of customer support and even sales work through AI automation.

The only thing however is the language limitations. Some languages might not be available or very limited in their proficiency, but commonly used languages around the world should work just fine.

Email Software:

While it’s not on the same level as Mailchimp or standalone emailing software, the email marketing function will get the job done for most things.

The email builder is pretty standard and not that different from other applications that you might find online.

Did I mention that emails are actually quite cheap? Since High Level gets bulk pricing for emails, you can sell emails with a markup if you are on their Pro Plan with SaaS Mode.

Sub-accounts however won’t get a fine dining service from a user-interface standpoint because the layout looks very basic and simple, but as I said, as long as it works, that’s what’s important.

Making Forms & Lead Magnets

One of the most important aspects of landing pages and websites are the forms and the lead magnets. It’s how you can grow and automate your own business.

While it’s simple and easy to make the forms on their marketing platform, I did struggle to get the responsiveness and compatibility right when embedding on my WordPress website that is hosted outside GoHighLevel.

It does not exactly look how you want it to look when you copy the embed code onto your website, so I spent a little time going back and forth changing the font size, padding, and what not while trying to get it right.

However, once the forms are set up and embedded on your website, the workflow automation works perfectly. When someone filled out the form / lead magnet, my marketing campaigns went smoothly without any problems.

**You do of course need to set up your workflow correctly though, so it mostly depends on how well you can build automations and workflows.

Analytics & Reporting

You can connect your Google and Facebook ads to your Go High Level account and see the results. It’s quite similar to HubSpot’s data reporting, but of course not in-depth and thorough as Google Analytics.

It’s more than enough if you just want a quick snapshot of your campaign results and see whether your campaigns are running effectively. The comprehensive analytics provide actionable insights that can optimize campaign performance and ROI.

Contact Management

Managing contacts is easy and pretty straightforward.

You can respond to contacts via email directly from the user interface which I liked, but if you are on a laptop or perhaps a tablet, it can feel as if things are a little squished and not enough breathing room.

For larger screens it was okay, but I think they tried to jam too much stuff in the contact tab with so many tools and features. However, it’s pretty similar to top-end CRMs when it comes to functionality and tools that are at your disposal. Unlike having to piecemeal together multiple platforms, GoHighLevel integrates everything you need in one place, making it more convenient and efficient.

There is a feature called “Smart Lists”, which is basically a list of your contacts that can be automatically sorted with tags via the workflow tool, but I think it should have been in a separate tab outside the contact management tab.

It can get a little bloated and slow if you make too many smart lists and contacts with tags, in addition to looking a little messy and disorganized, whereas other CRMs usually have such lists in a separate tab for a cleaner look.

Speed & Responsiveness

While the landing pages are quite responsive and snappy, the backend dashboard in GoHighLevel was a little slower than what I am accustomed to. Usually HubSpot, Mailchimp, and other CRMs have almost instant load times between different functions and tabs, but I found myself waiting a few seconds for certain tools and tabs to load.

It’s not a deal breaker, but I hope they will be able to improve on the speed performance for the backend in the future.

Switching Between Different Companies

As part of the unlimited client advantage, you can change between many different companies directly from your master account. It’s quite easy.

You just need to click on the main profile picture and then choose from any sub-accounts you have under your master account.

Adding New Users & Clients

I didn’t have any problems with adding users and multiple clients to the system. It’s a bit similar to making a user on WordPress.

Master accounts have access to all the sub accounts, so in case someone does not pay or decides to cancel, it’s easy to suspend or delete their access.
